Shawn hesitated as he looked at himself in the mirror. April had convinced him to swap costumes with her for the Halloween party—an idea that had sounded like fun when all their friends were supposedly doing it. He wore a frilly pink princess dress, complete with tights, a tiara, and glittery shoes.
But when Shawn arrived at the place for the pre-party gathering, Shawn’s grin faded fast. None of his friends were in girly costumes like he was. Instead, they were all dressed in their usual "tough guy" outfits—zombies, superheroes, and monsters. His heart sank as he realized he was the only one standing there in a sparkly dress.
April, noticing his unease, gave him a supportive smile. "You look darling," she whispered. But Shawn couldn't shake the feeling of embarrassment creeping up his neck as his friends stared at him, their smirks barely hidden.
Trying to play it cool, he adjusted his tiara and said with a nervous chuckle, "Guess I missed the memo, huh? I guess I'll go home and change"
"No way. You are coming with us!"
